While I was away in Kenya, I heard about this pretty clever PR stunt that Go Compare managed to pull off. In short, the company vandalised their own bill boards in an effort to create some media publicity, which evidently has worked or I wouldn’t be blogging about it. The stunt managed to spark conversation and articles on FT.com, Metro.co.uk, Guardian.co.uk, The Sun and Suckmytrend.com to mention just a few.
Smart move to get us all talking and to get the public back on side. I’m sure I wasn’t the only member of the general public who found the character insanely annoying and was delighted to hear he will be killed off in a new set of ads.
